Ecological Concerns Reflected in Kalidasa’s Sakuntala

Abstract

The research attempts to reflect on the ecological awareness that Kalidasa has portrayed through his play Abhijnana Sakuntalam (Sakuntala). The purpose is to correlate the play with the present-day socio-ecological crisis. With the ideas of modern Eco criticism, Vandana Shiva"s take on ecofeminism the research shall closely analyze the dichotomies between nature/city and man/woman. As per the methodology, the research shall be conducted through the qualitative method. Lastly, the research elucidates to various aspect of Sanskrit literature.
