| dc.description.abstract | This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the speaking and listening section under the course GEF1101 for the EFL Learners at ULAB. To find the absolute result mixed methods of qualitative and quantitative studies have been used. At ULAB the ENG courses are used to teach the four macro-skills of English, speaking, listening, reading, and writing simultaneously but recently it separates the listening and speaking section from the reading and writing sections by having the purpose of teaching speaking and listening skills separately. Studies assert that in Bangladesh students mostly lack speaking and listening skills rather than reading and writing skills. The hypothesis is that students' skills wouldn't change much since the course duration is only three months and in this short time both the skills, speaking and listening are impossible to acquire. To support the assertion many scholarly articles are discussed along with Krashen's affective filter theory. The research was conducted on the second and third-semester students of ULAB. The disclosed findings will assist the course coordinator while taking any decision related to the course. From a positive outcome, the coordinator can bring more modifications to it but if the outcome is negative, the coordinator has to bring changes with steps. | |
