This paper explores the global sharing economy with a focus on ridesharing and its rapid expansion in Bangladesh. Based on secondary research and stakeholder interviews, it examines global ridesharing models, market trends, and major players, before analyzing Bangladesh’s context—particularly Dhaka’s congestion, high demand for affordable transport, and widespread adoption of app-based services. The study highlights key growth drivers, market dynamics, challenges related to regulation, sustainability, and safety, and discusses emerging business models and policy considerations for the future of ridesharing in Bangladesh.
