Abstract

The dissertation titled Critical Intimacy is a novelette, a fictionalized memoir that deals with a complex mother-daughter relationship which has been entitled to both strong abuse and powerful love. The novelette is structured in a way to smoothen the stream of consciousness technique and the shift in narration to blur the line between fictional aspects and the real aspects of the narrative. The dissertation is written with a thought that a very close blood relationship can have its own dynamics and perceptions. Sometimes love takes different forms and they change to a point where a mother and a daughter, one of the closest bonds in the Universe, drifts away, although, when a daughter becomes the mother, she gets why her mother changed the way she did. The dissertation, even though a work of fiction, is inspired by a true story.
